HISTORY
The Faculty of Informatics at the University of Skopje was established in 2018 in response to the accelerated development of information technologies and the growing need for highly educated and professional staff in the IT sector. The decision to establish was made by the University Senate on 23rd January 2018 and in the same year the Faculty received accreditation and the decision to start work.
Since its establishment, the Faculty has been developing education in the field of computer science and software engineering, with an emphasis on the connection between academic knowledge, practical competencies and the needs of the labor market. The first study programs in Software Engineering were accredited in 2018 and the development continues with the accreditation of the study programs in computer science at the first and second cycles.
Today, the Faculty directs its development towards the modern fields of computer science and digital transformation, following the European standards for higher education and the dynamic changes in the IT sector. Teaching is complemented by practical projects, laboratory work, scientific research activities, international mobility and cooperation with the economy.
In accordance with its mission, the Faculty is dedicated to quality education and professional development of students through the acquisition of modern knowledge, skills and competencies in informatics, computer science, software engineering and information systems. Its vision is to contribute to the development of a knowledge-based society and digital progress, through education, scientific research, innovation and the application of information technologies.
MISSION OF THE FACULTY OF INFORMATICS
The vision of the Faculty of Informatics is to contribute to the development of a knowledge-based and digitally advanced society through education, research and application of information technologies. The Faculty aims to support the integration of the Republic of North Macedonia into the global digital environment by educating highly skilled IT professionals capable of developing and managing modern information systems and digital solutions.
Special attention is devoted to continuous modernization of study programmes, strengthening practical and research-oriented learning, and fostering innovation in the field of informatics. Through its activities, the Faculty of Informatics aspires to become a recognized academic unit that supports digital transformation and sustainable technological development at national and international level.
VISION OF THE FACULTY OF INFORMATICS
The mission of the Faculty of Informatics at the University of Skopje is to ensure academic success and professional development of students at the undergraduate and graduate levels in the field of informatics and information technologies. The Faculty of Informatics continuously maintains high quality education by creating competitive conditions for acquiring knowledge, skills and competences in computer science, software engineering, information systems and related IT disciplines.
Students are provided with a solid academic foundation and access to diverse theoretical and practical knowledge that prepares them to become productive, competent professionals and responsible members of society in a rapidly changing digital environment. The Faculty promotes critical thinking, ethical responsibility in the use of information technologies, innovation and lifelong learning, while contributing to socio-economic development through digital transformation.
